Providence Rhode Island

Working all school year then only taking a few days off to then start summer school, can be tough on the body. I truly was counting down the weeks until I could catch a breather. Finally summer school was over and my husband and I packed our bags and boarded the Greyhound in Manhattan for just $40 each and headed to Providence Rhode Island for a few days. I love thinking outside the box and discovered we could stay in a micro loft apartment in the famous Arcade Mall for just $120 a night.

The Arcade

The oldest, indoor shopping mall in America. While not as many stores are still open in the mall, there is a quaint book store and tasty coffee shop that sells great lattes. The micro lofts take up most of the mall now and it is centrally located to many eateries and small shops.

History

We enjoyed a brisk walk through College Hill and visited the Providence Anthenaeum (library) and famous streets. The hill to get to the library is not for the faint of heart (ha ha) so wear comfortable shoes. The RISD Museum was $22 a person and had beautiful works of art on display. It was nice to learn the history and culture of this town.

Roger Williams Park

Beautiful landscape, tranquil waters and even a fun carousel (yes my husband and I rode it like kids lol for just $2 each per ride) are what you will find in this cultural gem. Many people were in the park just sitting on the benches or taking birthday photos with family.
